Introduction

There has been a lot of hype about the Xiaomi Poco C40. This phone provides a lot of value, just like its mid-range, brother, the Xiaomi Poco C40. And after using this phone for a while you will understand why it was hyped as much as it was. Is this phone worth getting at the budget level? Let us find that out.

Design

The back panel reminds me a lot of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 from 2013, September. Yeah, this one also has the full leather slash plastic back panel. It also has a significantly large camera module with Poco branding. Sort of what we see on the OnePlus Cyberpunk 2077 Edition. It is definitely different and unique from other entry-level phones. At the bottom, we have a microphone, a USB type C, and one of its speakers.

On the right side we see the power button and then we have the fingerprints mounted on it. We also have the volume rocker on the same side. The top has the second of the two speakers, a headphone jack, and an infrared blaster. The SIM card tray and the expandable memory card slots are on the left-hand side.

Display

Let’s go ahead and talk about the display of the Xiaomi Poco C40. It has a full HD 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution, which is kind of rare at this price range. This display is very decent. with images are very sharp. They’re fluid at 60 Hertz refresh rate. You’re not going to have any problems when it comes to the quality of the display. You’ll definitely enjoy watching YouTube, especially Netflix because this has a wide vine level one. It is also important to note that there is Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for this display.

Camera

Xiaomi Poco C40 has a triple camera set up. It does have a 50-megapixel main sensor, which is very decent when it comes to daylight shots. If you’re going to use this for vlogging, it doesn’t have image stabilization. You might want to use a phone gimble for that. Now Xiaomi Poco C40 doesn’t have all the camera features of a mid-range phone. You will miss out on a lot of features that the Xiaomi Poco C40 three has. Make sure you check out the website so that you will find out what camera features the Poco C40 has. That 8 MP, f/2.1, (wide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm selfie however would have done well were it of more megapixels.

Performance

Xiaomi Poco C40 has a Snapdragon 663 chipset. It’s a little bit of an upgrade over the Snapdragon 665. You’ll be greeted by a software update on the first boot. That software update is an optimization update that does address some of the lags. You need not worry about their early performance of the Poco and three it’s going to get fixed. Xiaomi will somehow find a way to optimize this. The phone comes running Android 10, and MIUI 12, and has an Adreno 610 GPU with either 64GB / 4GB RAM, or 128GB / 4GB RAM of expandable internal storage.

Battery life

Lastly, the battery life on Xiaomi Poco C40. So this has a Li-Po 6000 mAh battery capacity, and that is a great deal at this price point. If you’re going to use the Poco C40 as your daily driver, and you’re not a heavy user, it should last you for a day and a half or two days. But the one downside to this huge battery capacity because it can only charge up to 18 Watts. You have 18 Watts of fast charging and a Li-Po 6000 mah capacity. Put them together and you have about two hours of charging time. If you’re okay with that, then you’re good to go, ignore I said anything there.

Recommendation

So is it the best option that you can get for its price range? I honestly think that it is for the value that it provides. It gives you an expandable memory card, 48-megapixel camera, and the Li-Po 6000 mAh battery capacity, as well as a headphone jack, infrared blaster, and dual speakers. It is a great option for those looking for an entry-level phone for those who really can’t extend their budget to the Xiaomi Poco C40 which is one of the best, if not the best value phone in 2020.
